No New Baby Yet!

Every time I call anyone these days the first thing I hear on the other end of the line is "Have you had the baby yet?" Well, not yet. The official due date is next Wednesday the 26th and this kid is really acting like it's big brother and looks like it's going to be another big parasite that might need an eviction notice. I'm feeling great, not uncomfortable at all and haven't felt much that could be considered as my body getting ready for labor.

Can you tell which kid in the choir is ours? Einar spent most of this practice looking backwards at the whole choir and the bells. He's been practicing the "Listen" song for Easter Sunday for weeks now every time he goes to church on Wednesday night, but I think his biggest accomplishment this Sunday will be just standing there with the group.

Einar has been helping Grandpa out in the kitchen making his favorite breakfast waffles. He's always at your elbow to watch and help when it comes to activity in the kitchen. Much of the time he's put to work, but there are times when we have to get creative to get him out of the kitchen and busy on something else so that there aren't too many cooks in the kitchen.

Last Sunday after church, Einar took Grandma and Grandpa whale watching out of Dana Point Harbor. They didn't see any whales that afternoon, but they did see dolphins, pelicans and egrets and got lots of great fresh air.

The other pictures are of Einar using a kid-sized bathroom at the Mission Viejo Mall that he likes to utilize with his new found potty skills.

Hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa

Einar and I have been helping Grandma and Grandpa acclimate to life in San Clemente. They readily take naps with us in the afternoon, have figured out how to get the little guy down for his naps and for bedtime (usually) and have been shown where some of the closest parks are. On Saturday when my mom and I went to a baby shower, Einar and Grandpa practiced bike riding in the garage. Einar can steer now! Pedaling is still a skill that needs some work. We've also played a lot with trucks and ate some watermelon for dessert tonight. Tomorrow we all go to another ultrasound to see how the baby is doing--I'll keep you posted!

A Week of Midnight Snacks....

Well, ever since he ditched his diapers, Einar's sleeping has been pretty unpredictable. I think he's just thinking about potties and being a big boy so much that it's hard to fall asleep for naps and at night. He's also been waking up in the middle of the night to not only use the toilet but also inform me that he either is hungry or wants to sleep in my bed. I've included some pictures of one of his midnight snacks of cheese and crackers. You really don't want to see the picture that I took of myself that night! Maybe he's just helping me get all prepped for the new baby and even more unpredictable sleep schedules.

The kid also wanted his two little potties cleaned up and packed away so that he can just use the big toilets. I think we'll be sending him off to the prom next week and then packing this summer to get him off to college in the fall. So now I have fewer toilets to clean and that is a great thing! He's been doing very well using underpants even though at night when he goes to bed he wants to get up every 20 minutes to pee.

Phone conversations have become more like conversations now with Einar instead of him just walking around the house and telling the person on the other end what he is seeing. It's really hard to follow what he's saying when you can't see what he is seeing.

Tonight when we left for a meeting, we caught a gorgeous sunset! Einar liked it because it was "Pink!"

For the baby update, I'm now officially at 37 weeks and feeling very pregnant. Yesterday my back was just killing me from the awkward weight on the front of me. Today was better, but it is still getting more uncomfortable as the last few weeks of pregnancy tend to do. Went to the doctor today and everything is going well and on track. I'll probably have more news after I go to my next ultrasound on Tuesday morning. My folks move in tomorrow to help out. They have one-way tickets from Seattle. So after tomorrow around 1pm the baby is welcome to come since I know that Einar will be in good hands and have fun with his grandparents while I'm in the hospital. Actually, it really needs to wait until at least Saturday night since a friend of mine has planned a baby shower for me at church on Satuday afternoon and I hear that showers without the pregnant lady aren't much fun to attend.
