Train trip to SNA and 4th of July Pictures too!

Today we rode the Metrolink train from San Juan Capistrano to Santa Ana and back again. This is us while waiting for the train. Once we got to our destination, we crossed over the tracks to the other side and rode the southbound train back to san Juan Capistrano. The goal of the trip was the ride itself, not the industrial part of Santa Ana.
Soren enjoyed watching the scenery go by just as much as Einar did. Soren was also the only one in our party to enjoy a snack during the journey--Fresh Milk is good anywhere!

A front view of the growing baby looking like a kid now! He's over 2 feet tall now and is now laughing at things. He likes to laugh when I take off his clothes.

Jared and Einar checking out the scenery too. While we were on the train, Einar wanted to call the grandparents to tell him what we were doing. Cell phones are pretty cool.

Can you tell who was having fun on the train?

On the Fourth of July, we needed to make sure that Einar got a good nap in so that he would enjoy the fireworks at night. Jared volunteered to oversee nap time in Einar's room. I think I was feeding Soren. No nap for Mom, I had a cake to finish decorating...

This was delicious and very pretty at the same time. It was a cheesecake bar cake with flage decorations....not too bad for breakfast the next day either. I made this version dairy-free since we were celebrating the Fourth at Kathleen's house and she can't do the dairy thing.

For those of you that are concerned that son #2 will grow up with a sling-shaped back (think cooked shrimp), don't worry! He does get to stretch out once in awhile when he rides on Dad. He's also having much more not on a parent time these days, especially in the morning.

This is the festive Fourth of July crew before we fed them a fabulous grilled steak, potato, green bean and corn on the cob dinner.

One day Jared set up the tent on Einar's bed so that he could nap in it and feel comfortable sleeping in it for the camping trip that they took. As you can see, Soren and I felt comfortable in it as well. Soren is on the other side of me and fell asleep drinking milk yet again.

High Altitude Wilderness Adventure

Daddy and I went on a high altitude adventure. We had went to a wilderness area above Palm Springs. Our camp site was really high up! Mom took our pictures before we left, but I was so excited, I couldn't stand still. Daddy carried all the stuff, which is good, because the pack was too heavy for me.
I got to walk on fallen trees.
This is me crossing a creek.
There was plenty of time to climb on rocks, too.
I helped Daddy put together the tent and set up camp.
We stayed over night and there was plenty of hot chocolate to drink in the morning. This is us on the way out. It was a good time playing in the dirt and climbing on the stuff. The walking around wasn't that great. I did see some birds, squirrels and lizards. Now we're back home with Mommy and Soren.

Let's Get Einar off of the Grass!

Here are some pictures from our trip to Seattle a couple of weeks ago. Apologies for taking so long to get them posted! It's 5 am now, but I'm up since Einar woke up with the same Diarrhea and vomiting that Jared had earlier in the week and once I got him back to sleep I was wide awake. I figure I also might not have much time in the next day or two as I add nurse to my mom duties.

Soren's first Grandpa bath. Grandpa LOVES water and uses lots of soap!

"Camping" in Bothell for dinner with Sherm and Mary. We made hobo pie pizza over the fire pit, fed the chickens, and made smores. Einar got to play with some really cool trucks too.

I think we wore Grandma Jean out. Here she is with Soren (who also looks pretty tired) on the day that we packed up our whirlwind trip to Seattle.
I took the boys and met up at View Ridge park in Seattle with Karin and Amelia and Nina and Karsten. Einar and Amelia had a blast playing together and it was fun eavesdropping on their conversations. When these two were babies and toddlers they truly didn't get along but now they enjoy each other's company.

Grandpa Lee and his sisters, Arlene and LaVerne. I got to take this picture because the last time that my mom tried to take a picture of the three of them together, she backed up, fell down and broke her leg. She didn't want to chance that again.

Nina and adorable Karsten at the park.

Einar and Amelia walking together at Northgate Mall.

Einar, Amelia, and Marlene at Red Robin.

Erin and Luke, just married. Congratulations!

Here comes trouble! Ryan and Katie are Erin's brother and Sister so that makes Einar a cousin of sorts (their mom is my cousin). During the reception, Einar was Katie's shadow and he still talks about her. This afternoon he was telling me about her blue dress.

Soren with Great Auntie Arlene. We call Great Uncle Steve GUS, but I don't think we'll start calling Arlene GAA, although Soren might. It sounds like something that a baby might do. The bride is Arlene's granddaughter.

Einar, Soren, Annie, and Cyrus Ogle hamming it up for the picture (except for Soren). Hanging out with the big cousins was fun. Einar always has lots to talk about after visiting with Cyrus and Annie.
On the morning of the wedding I went outside and found Einar "helping" Grandpa wash his Honda S2000. Actually, I think he's driving it! How come he looks big enough to drive it? Grandpa, do you fit in that car?

My handsome guys all dressed up for church and Erin's wedding. Soren's outfit only lasted till we got to church since his buttons kept unbuttoning and his legs were kicking in the breeze. Notice how Einar's socks match his tie!

A quick nap in the car before heading into the wedding. Early mornings with car washing, church, and drives through the countryside to Snohomish can wear a little guy out!

Even with spiky hair, Einar was still feeling snuggly during the wedding and stayed with Grandma throughout the ceremony.

When we were getting off of the plane from Orange County to Seattle, the pilot invited Einar into the cockpit to check things out. He even lifted him into his seat and posed for a picture. Overall, that was a great flight experience. I left strollers at home this trip and just had one carry-on for me and a small one for Einar. Soren stayed in his sling. Soren stayed asleep for take-off then fed, talked with us for a little while, got a clean diaper, and fell back asleep. We all had a great time and I walked off of that plane feeling like the three of us could travel all over! (short 2-hour flight up the West Coast accomplished--bring on the World!).

This is a picture of our sleeping vision in pink. Not only does he prefer wearing pink during the day, he sleeps better in pink and Grandma and Grandpa have a special big boy bed set up for him at their house.

Here are the boys watching some TV with Grandpa on his big bed. I guess Soren isn't catching much of the plot.

Einar and Sammy and Zorro. They had just had waffles for breakfast and were having fun playing together. Einar is still checking out Zorro. By the end of our visit he did give Zorro a hug.
